The original part of the homestead was hewn from local ironbark
over 150 years ago and is set amidst lush green lawns, fruit
trees, roses and wisteria. Theres even a type of
grevillea unique
to the area.
In days gone by, the property was the centre of local activity,
not only featuring the original Kerrabee General Store and Post
Office, but a school on the western side of the creek going
into the dam. The original Kerrabee Post Office
and General store
will
soon
be
restored
as private accommodation.
When the homestead was renovated and extended
to provide guest rooms, great care was taken to preserve the original
Australian colonial architecture – high ceilings, ironbark
walls and cooling wide verandas.
This is a piece of Australia you
thought no longer existed.
